Studio Policies 2024
Enrolment
Students must be enrolled online before they may participate in class. This is very important as teachers need to know students and class sizes in order to plan their lesson and consider medical abilities.
Trying a Class
We do not offer drop-in trial classes, as they are disruptive to the teacher and enrolled students and because we feel a single class is unlikely to show whether the class is a good fit for your child. Instead, if after the first two classes you feel it is not working out just let us know. We will refund any tuition paid but the registration fee will still be applicable. You can always come back later within the year to try again without paying another registration fee.
Tuition
Tuition is based on weekly classes for a minimum 8 week term. Some terms are longer, but no extra charge is made. Costume & Performance Group fees and concert tickets are charged separately. See tuition fees schedule for amounts and dates.
Withdrawals & Refunds
To withdraw from classes a parent must give adequate notice in person, in writing, or via email to enable us to offer the space to another student. Term fees are non-refundable and any credit notes are at the discretion of the studio. A medical certificate must be provided for any refund to be processed.
Studio Calendar
The dance classes follow a four term year based on a minimum 8-week term. Fees do not increase if dance terms are more than 8 weeks. Classes are not held on Easter or Public Holidays. As we are privately owned we do not adhere to the Ministry of Education advised calendars however fairly close to.
Observing Classes
Parents of Junior Jammers and Novice are invited to watch the first week of classes. We ask that younger siblings are kept from joining in the class for safety reasons. For all classes, we ask that parents only watch classes during viewing weeks, to allow children to relax and feel secure in their learning environment as well as concentrate on the teacher and their choreography.
Substitutions & Cancellations
We reserve the right to cancel classes or provide a substitute teacher. Cancelled classes will either be added at the end of the term, year or credited at the studio’s discretion. No refunds for unforeseen closure and/or weather events will be given.
Dance Uniform
Dance shoes or CLEAN sports shoes and activewear must be worn to all classes. For safety reasons dancers are not permitted to wear heavy jewellery and must wear their hair tied back. Streetwear and bare feet are not allowed.
Attendance
Please inform us of absences. No classes will be made up or refunded for illness or non-attendance, aside from in exceptional circumstances as agreed with the office.
Parents’ Responsibility To Be Aware Of Dates & Events
It is the responsibility of the parent or adult student to be aware of all studio activities, such as viewing days, replacement classes, and dates the studio is open or closed, sent via email. Please ensure that you provide your most convenient email address. Our system notifies us of bounce-backs and successfully sent emails.
Care of Students
The studio is not responsible for providing before or after class care for students. All primary aged students are to be escorted to the studio door and not left for long duration times before or after class. Please do not allow your children to wait outside on the pavement or run around in the carpark. Prox cards only work 10-15 minutes prior to the individuals scheduled lesson time.
Choreography
Choreography for classes, performances and competitions remain the artistic and intellectual property of Dancefit Studios teachers and/or the syllabus providers. Choreography must not be copied or used without prior permission of Dancefit Studios Choreographers.
Students who leave the studio are not permitted to perform choreography that was developed specifically for them by Dancefit Studios teachers as a competition solo or as part of a team/group without prior permission.
Taking Classes At Other Studios
Dancefit Studios is a privately owned dance school. To maintain consistency and for scheduling reasons, classes at other schools need to be declared to avoid any conflict of interest. Students who have a prior accepted arrangement to dance at two studios may be able to continue this, if the Studio Director feels it is in the best interests of all parties.
Photo Release
Enrolment at Dancefit Studios Ltd grants use of photography and video of students for teacher training purposes or for promotional materials the studio creates.
Behaviour
Students must not run in the studio spaces or touch any class equipment without teachers’ permission.
